FRIDAY-SATURDAY: CLOSED

 

The library is now open with full services including internet.

 
Items from any library in the Lake County Library System may be returned to the Minneola Library during operating hours. Books only, may be returned 24 hours a day to the book drop box located on the north side of the library (near Pearl Street). 

NEW PROGRAMS:

Cards and Letters for Soldiers:
Beginning 1/20/2010 children and adults can make cards and write letters to soldiers serving overseas. Materials and postage will be paid for by the Minneola Friends of the Library. For more information call the library at 352-432-3921.
 
Magazine Exchange: The library has a free magazine exchange. Take one, and bring one of your favorite magazines.
 
Free Coupons: The library has free coupons for anyone who wants to check our coupon bin

 

Read to the Dogs at Minneola Library
Children are invited to practice reading out loud to trained dogs from the Caring Canine Group at the library on the second and fourth Thursday of the month. The current schedule is, 2/11, 2/25, 3/11, 3/25, 4/8 & 4/22  from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
All are welcome to participate.

Friends of the Library: The Friends of the Minneola Library will meet on the second Friday of the month at 10:00 a.m. All are welcome to attend. For more information call Mary Kay McGuire, Library Manager at 352-432-3921.
 
The Front Porch Book Club: The Front Porch Book Club will meet on the third Friday of the month at 10:00 a.m.

 NOTE: Pre-Registration is necessary for all of the following events:

3/26: Alzheimer's, Dementia or Memory Loss: What You Need to Know Workshop at 10:00 a.m. Ms. Carol McCarthy, Community Service Educator for the Alzheimer's Family Organization will be the speaker.

 

Ms. Julie England from University of Florida, Lake County Extension will give a free workshop titled  "Closing Your Florida Home" on Friday, 2/26 at 10:00 a.m. at the library.
All are welcome.
 
The "Orchid" Doctor is in! Join Mr. Jack Batchelor from Paradise Orchids, on Friday 3/5 at 10:00 a.m. He will offer tips to keep your orchids flowering. Mr. Batchelor invites all to bring in their "ailing" orchids and he will explain how to get them blooming again. He will bring be bringing samples of his orchids for sale.
 
Basic Computer lessons are available by appointment. Call for more information.
 
Adult Literacy Program: The library participates in the Lake County Literacy Program by recruiting tutors and adult students who would like to improve their literacy skills. Call the library for more information.

  The Lake County Historical Society recognized Mary Jane Lange as Preservationist of the Year for her efforts in preserving the history of Minneola and South Lake County.  Mary Jane is responsible for the restoration of the "Old Schoolhouse" at 100 S. Main Ave. Built in 1885, the building is the oldest schoolhouse in Minneola. After restoration, the building will serve as the city's first public library. In the future, when a new city library is built, the building  will be converted to a historical museum.
