City of Minneola Receives Policy Award

The City of Minneola received the distinguished Horizon Award from the Lake~Sumter Metropolitan Planning Organization for Exemplary Public Policy.  The City was honored with this award for creating the Minneola Mountain Community Redevelopment Area in an effort to advance the Florida Turnpike Interchange project.  The State of Florida has committed thirty million dollars towards the construction of the interchange in Minneola.  Work on the project is expected to begin within the next twelve months.  Over a decade in the making, the project is estimated to inject one billion dollars into the area’s economy over the next 30 years.
