Storm Debris Collection Notice
Storm Debris Collection Notice

This is an important message from the City of Minneola regarding waste collection and repairs.  This message will be repeated so please be prepared to write down any information you may need for future reference.

First, we want to thank all of you for the wonderful way in which you handled the storm.  Everyone helped each other, stayed positive, and remained patient during a challenging event.  Thank you for setting the example for those in other communities to follow.

Next, we would like to provide you with a storm debris collection update.  As a reminder, household waste will not be collected today, September 30th.  Household waste collection will begin again on Monday, October 3rd and Tuesday, October 4th, depending on the collection route your neighborhood is on.  However, storm debris collection will begin this Saturday, October 1st, at 7:00 a.m. and continue until next Saturday, October 8th.  Again, storm debris collection will begin again this Saturday.  Please place your loose, not bagged, vegetative storm waste along the curb in small manageable bundles where possible by this Saturday morning at 7:00 a.m. to be sure it is out before G.F.L. begins collection.  Please do not comingle household waste and vegetative storm debris waste.  If you cannot get your storm debris to the curb by this Saturday morning, we will collect storm debris again next Saturday beginning at 7:00 a.m.

Finally, we would also like to provide you with helpful information regarding any storm damage repairs you may make.  Please take pictures of your storm related property damage before making repairs.  Your insurance company and F.E.M.A. may require proof of the damage prior to approving any claims or applications for assistance.  Lake County has not been approved for F.E.M.A. disaster assistance yet.  However, please visit www.disasterassistance.gov or call or (800) 621-FEMA to see if you qualify if a disaster declaration is made.  When making repairs to your home or business, it is important to use a licensed contractor.  You can check a contractor’s license online at www.myfloridalicense.com.  Make sure the licensed contractor obtains a building permit before beginning any work on your property.  The Florida Building Code requires a permit for the reroofing of a structure as well as for other types of repairs.  Please like us on Facebook or visit us at www.minneola.us for up-to-date information.

Again, please visit www.disasterassistance.gov or call (800) 621-FEMA to see if you qualify for F.E.M.A. assistance, you can check a contractor’s license online at www.myfloridalicense.com, or call us at (352) 394-3598 if you have additional questions.

Thank you for doing your part to make Minneola a great place to call home.
