Residential waste collection and disposal services are provided to the City's residents through W.C.A. of Florida, Inc. The charge for this service is included with the monthly utility bill.
Waste Collection Schedules (Routes)
The City has is organized into two separate collection schedules.
The following neighborhoods have household waste collection services on Monday & Thursday, yard waste collection services on Monday, and recycling collection services on Wednesday:
Ardmore Reserve, Chelsea Parc, Country Ridge, East Ridge, High Pointe, Hills of Minneola, Hodges, Lakewood Ridge, Parkside, Pine Bluff, Reserve at Minneola, etc.
The following neighborhoods have household waste collection services on Tuesday & Friday, yard waste collection services on Tuesday, and recycling collection services on Wednesday:
Apshawa View, Highland Oaks, Highland Ridge, Oak Valley, Park Ridge, Quail Valley, Ridgecrest Loop, Sugarloaf Mountain, etc.
Containers & Instructions
Residents are provided a 96 gallon cart for household waste and a 64 gallon cart for recycling. Residents may request a change in container sizes once each year. Available household waste container sizes are 96 gallons, 64 gallons, and 35 gallons. Carts must be placed at the curb on or before 7:00 a.m. the day of collection and must be removed from the curb on or before 9:00 p.m. the day of collection. Residents who do not wish to have a recycling cart may request to have it removed. Carts must be returned if a resident moves.
Household garbage must be bagged, placed inside the carts, and placed at the curb for collection on or before 7:00 a.m. on the scheduled pickup day(s). Carts must be removed from the curb on or before 9:00 p.m. the day of collection. Residents are discouraged from placing loose garbage inside of the carts.
Recyclables are limited to newspaper, aluminum, metal beverage and food cans, all colors of glass bottles and jars, plastic bottles and jars which previously held liquid and is coded for recycling, and cardboard. Recyclable materials must be clean, have lids removed, and have labels removed. Recyclable materials must be placed inside the recycling carts and placed at the curb for collection on or before 7:00 a.m. on Wednesday. Carts must be removed from the curb on or before 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Residents who do not wish to recycle or have a recycling cart may request to have it removed.
Yard waste must be cut to lengths of 5’ or less, weigh less than 50 pounds, and bundled with twine or string. Grass clippings must be bagged. All yard waste must be placed at the curb for collection on or before 7:00 a.m. on the first household waste collection day of the week (depending on your collection schedule).
Bulk waste, including furniture and household appliances, will be collected as needed. Residents may also contact W.C.A. of Florida, Inc. at (800) 535-9533 to schedule a bulk waste collection. Please allow up to forty-eight (48) hours, excluding weekends and holidays, for the bulk waste to be collected. If bulk waste is placed at the curb on Friday, on or before 7:00 a.m., then the bulk waste will be collected on the next scheduled collection day.
Excluded Waste & Recycling
Waste excluded from collection includes waste products generated from land clearing, building construction or alteration, or yard waste generated by a contractor or otherwise created by someone other than the person(s) residing at the home or originated from property other than the location where the waste is placed at the curb for collection.
Recycling excluded from collection includes glass or plastic bottles and jars that previously held automotive, food, or toxic chemicals, glass or plastic bottles that are not rinsed clean with lids and labels removed, or cardboard that is not clean.
Waste Services will not be Provided on the Following Holidays:
- Independence Day
- Labor Day
- Memorial Day
- Thanksgiving Day
- Christmas Day
- New Year's Day
When a Holiday falls on a regularly scheduled collection day the service will be provided on the following regular scheduled day.
